SUPPORTING NEW TALENTS

Dedicated to promote Education, Arts & Culture, Fondation Saradar has always played a role in encouraging new artistic and cultural activities. Amongst the latest projects the foundation has been involved in:

The Silex project that aims at supporting new talents. Joelle Achkar, ALBA student, published her first book illustrating a selection of 'Briefs' printed in l'Orient-Le Jour. Book signing and promotion were held at the French Cultural Center, 2008.

Within the 4th Comics International Festival, a Schtroumpf show was organized at the Beirut Souks, June 30 - July 8 August, 2010.

 
   
   
ART EXHIBITIONS

1. CONTEMPORARY ART EXHIBITION, WASHINGTON D.C.

Fondation Saradar engaged in an artistic venture "Convergence, New Art from Lebanon", initiated by the Association for the Promotion and Exhibition of the Arts in Lebanon (APEAL) and other partners and sponsors. The project, a contemporary art exhibition, including nearly 60 paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs and media-based art by 29 Lebanese artists, was held at the American University Museum Katzen Arts Center, in Washington D.C. from April 8 to May 16, 2010.

Beirut Press Conference
APEAL and Fondation Saradar held a press conference, on Wednesday March 10, 2010 at Groupe Saradar headquarters in Achrafieh, to launch the art project and its objectives.

2. GALA DINNER & OPENING CEREMONY IN WASHINGTON D.C.

Organized by the Embassy of Lebanon to the US, APEAL and Groupe Saradar, a gala dinner was organized at the Katzen Arts Center on April 7 attended by prominent American and Lebanese figures.

The Lebanese exhibition was officially launched on April 8 in the presence of some Artists who traveled to the US for this occasion. The Washington press was invited to cover the event. A massive attendance by Lebanese and American invitees and visitors marked the opening event.

3. THE FILM SECTION

A "Film Series" promoting Lebanon's movie industry was featured along with the exhibition at the museum's Recital Hall from May 13 to May 16 in association with Fondation Liban Cinema.
A series of six feature-length works, three short films, and one documentary representing the best in contemporary Lebanese film were presented in the Abramson Family Recital Hall of American University's Katzen Arts Center.

 
   
   
CULTURAL HERITAGE
Preserving our cultural heritage is another Fondation Saradar main concern. In 2010, the foundation supported the production of TéléLiban & Fondation Liban Cinéma promotional short movie entitled "Shattered Memories", dedicated to raise funds in order to save and restore Lebanon's film heritage.
